HiBROW Film Screening The Salon Project http://festival15.summerhall.co.uk/event/hibrow-film-screening-the-salon-project/ Fri, 03 Jul 2015 10:07:19 +0000 http://festival15.summerhall.co.uk/?post_type=event&p=3059 A film based on a theatre event inspired by the rituals of the 19th century salon.

Stewart Laing, Scotland’s celebrated theatre director and designer, created a fully immersive experience for audience members, dressed in opulent Victorian costumes, in a mirrored 19th century reception room at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh.

The Salon Project offers audiences the opportunity to explore the past while imagining the future, to mirror the contrasts and paradoxes between the golden age of salon society and our own era of economic excess.

HiBROW Film Screening LOL (Lots of Love) http://festival15.summerhall.co.uk/event/hibrow-film-screening-lol/ Fri, 03 Jul 2015 10:07:18 +0000 http://festival15.summerhall.co.uk/?post_type=event&p=3058 A multi camera film capturing the award winning Protein Dance’s production staged at The Place in London.

Artistic Director Luca Silvestrini takes everyday issues and subjects, with deep, witty analysis, choreographing his own very idiosyncratic and distinctive dance theatre. Driving the approach is a desire to connect theatrical experience with the life stories of participants – amateur or professional – and audiences. The result is work of humour, pathos and invention that reflects the integrity and absurdity of its ingredients.

“Human connection on virtual speed, exhilarating and funny ….his best creation to date.” Judith Mackrell. The Guardian ★★★★
